BRYAN ANIMAL HOSPITAL STAFF BIOS VETERINARIANS: Dr. Carolyn Slavin-Semel, VMD, is the owner and senior doctor at Bryan Animal Hospital. A native of suburban Detroit, Dr. Slavin graduated from the University of Michigan in 1989. Then, on scholarship, she attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, from which she graduated in 1993. During her 11 years practicing medicine at Bryan Animal Hospital, Dr. Slavin has developed a special interest in Oncology/Chemotherapy. She now resides in the Art Museum area of Philadelphia with her husband, two sons, their one dog Fudge and four cats (Maxine, Trudy, Witty, and Nardi).
- Dr. Diane Horn, VMD, who worked at Bryan from 1992 to 2001, returns after a brief hiatus. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. She is a New Jersey native who now resides in New Eygypt with her husband, Dave (also a veterinarian) and daughter, Rachel, and their sweet pitbull Demi. Dr. Horn is an excellent surgeon and general practicioner.
- David Semel, MS in Education, is the general manager of Bryan Animal Hospital. David received his bachelor's degree from Villanova University in 1993 and then proceeded to get his masters in education at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. David taught in South Philadelphia for 8 years and is now helping run Bryan Animal Hospital with his wife Carolyn. He is also working in the Graduate Education Department at University of Pennsylvania mentoring student teachers.
